WOOD
Drawings on porous, thin material made of wood. From October 2003 I started to draw visual diaries and still keep filling the pages. Tools, techniques and styles varies a lot. However, comics made with ink and brush may be the most remebered among the people. Unfortunately most of the comics are only available in Finnish.

1000 x 726 | 1/2 | 1/4
USA marine from a concept level to animated sprite (16 colors, 32x32 pixels). The end result had to be cartoony, funny character from isometric perspective.
02merirosvo-new-yorkissa.jpg

747 x 1000 | 1/2 | 1/4
A3 size poster illustration with ink and brush (real, not CGI). New York and the pirate were made on separate papers, put together later with computer after scanning.

331 x 450 | 1/2 | 1/4
Drawn with a dip pen and ink. As a reference I used a photograph I took some years ago in Kuopio, Finland.

432 x 450 | 1/2 | 1/4
I drew a white wagtail (Motacilla alba) with drawing pencils for my mother, using a picture from a book.
05chat-program-comic.jpg

378 x 800 | 1/2 | 1/4
A sample from one of my visual diaries: a comic drawn directly with ink and brush. Overally a good example of the way I pass my experiences into comics.

653 x 800 | 1/2 | 1/4
This is one of my few works of engraving/etching. It was inspired by Buddhist art and one its deities.

450 x 295 | 1/2 | 1/4
I practiced drawing cars for the exams in Liminka. I drew this with ink and brush, even though I cleaned off some mistakes with a computer in the end.

900 x 652 | 1/2 | 1/4
Another good example from my visual diaries. Styles and themes vary greatly among the pages.
