"I find your lack of faith disturbing"
I experienced something eerie and scary today.
It all began when I opened my computer. For a long time I decided to run
the DC++ file sharing program. In the program there was a pop message
that told about http://www.georgewbush.com
and how it´s banned from all non-US traffic. It also noticed rationally,
that Mr. G.W. Bush haven´t ever really been a promoter of free information.
Then it gave a link to proxy website that shows Bush´s site normally.
It gave me the creeps, because the first time sings of isolation in politics
of Bush really came through into the trivial life of mine. It was right
here in my home, on my computer screen. I wouldn't go to Bush's website
at all if I didn´t know about the banning issue. Maybe it´s
a clever advertisement trick? Nah, I don´t think so.
I continued the discussion about Americans and Mr. Bush in IRC with my friends. One friend of mine told me about mundane americans who have written posts in news forums of the Net. He told me how they have been very aggressive toward Europeans and even threaten (Europe) with war if we don´t stop involving and criticizing America´s politics. I know that they were just some of them, and not every American think like that. But still it makes me think how much they know about us? If they´re at least a little like their president, they don´t know much about citizens of Europe. Not much at all. That really scares me. To think that Bush is not the only one in there: if there are MANY uneducated simple minds with extra prejudicies and armed with guns of "freedom"? Even if Bush loses the election, that big mass of idiots will still remain. Rather than in any religion, I believe in three things: myself, people and miracles. Life is a ride in a rollercoaster: faith in all of those increases and decreases time to time. I guess this the moment when I have to believe in people and in miracles, very heavily indeed. That´s not easy. Even I am a quite positive person at the most of the time, I would like to say that sometimes believing in those things are harder than beliving in Santa Claus. |
