Thoughts about travelling
Last time I wrote about getting perspective by
watching stars in the sky. I think one very good way to do the same is
travelling. When you go away from you home, you see different things in
different places. You don´t have to go very far away to do just
that. It can be something so simple like visiting at relatives who you
haven´t seen for a while.
On friday I travelled to northern Finland to see my mother, stepfather, father and some friends who still live there. I´ve had spent too many weekends in my small apartment so it was nice to see some other places again. I have living here in Kuopio just about six months and I start to realize how different it looks like in Oulu, Raahe and Siikajoki, in northern Finland. A lot more snow and always so very flat - no higher ground anywhere. If you don´t know what is the distance between for example Kuopio and Oulu, look at this map. I really hope that these cheap prices of international flights still apply on summer. Travelling into different cities and places in Finland is pretty normal to me, but I also like to see more other countries. Two years ago I travelled mostly by hitchiking all the way to Germany, through Sweden and Denmark. During those years travelling by flying was too expensive, but no things have changed. Maybe I see Frankfurt on next July. It would be great to be there at my 25th birthday. |
